Alphabet's Google said on Wednesday it is opening an artificial intelligence research center in China to target the country's local talent even as the US search firm's products remain blocked in the country. Google said in a statement the research center is the first of its kind in Asia and will comprise a small team operating out of its existing office in Beijing. Chinese policymakers have voiced strong support for AI research and development in the country but have imposed increasingly strict rules on foreign firms in the past year including new censorship restrictions. Google's search engine is banned in the Chinese market along with its app store, email and cloud storage services. China's cyber regulators say restrictions on foreign media and internet platforms are designed to block influences that contravene stability and socialist ideas. Google will now let mobile users book hotels and flights right from the search results. The company has also added better price filtering to help you find the best hotel and flight results right from Google Search. The new changes emerge just a week after Google Flights received machine learning algorithms to predict flight delays even before they are announced by the airlines. Google will offer multiple tabs once you type your destination. These tabs will list all the available hotels and flights and will let you easily toggle between the available hotel and flight options. Google is set to make travel planning easy on mobile devices and make users ditch third-party travel portals while searching for hotels and flights for future holidays.
